First off, here's the link for the WGA Strike page.
Second, for those that care, the shows in my "best" category include
1. (the ones that were cancelled, or in production for an unspecified date) Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, Firefly, the Venture Brothers
2. (the ones that began sucking ass after a while) Family Guy, Avatar, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
3. (the one that has nothing at all to do with the WGA) Slings & Arrows
I've taken a break from my break to make up this three-part rant on the strike. I just can't let crap like this pass without a proverbial disapproving frown. Though I hope that the networks eventually realize that the internet is an actual medium, it's certainly more complicated from where I'm sitting (which is in front of my computer).
Like I said above, I'm not enthusiastic about current TV programming, and a prolonged strike might force some innovation. Although if memory serves, last time "innovation" was forced, we got Reality TV. So that's really not somehthing I can be happy about either. I'm not sure how feasible it is to just hire writers that don't belong to the guild, or even bring in new talent, so I won't speculate about that.

Oh come on. Reality TV isn't that bad. The bad stuff comes in the form of Reality TV Game shows, which are anything but what their descriptor implies.
Other shows that are closer to "reality" tend to be a little more interesting.
For instance. Survivor tends to be entirely worthless. Survivorman on the other hand tends to be kind of slow paced but ultimately kind of engrossing and interesting.
And anyone who watches Deadliest Catch would agree that there's something awfully compelling about the job those fishermen do.

One other note. There are precisely three shows on there that I do enjoy watching every now and then.
Heroes
House
Eureka
But I've never managed to watch them on a regular basis...so this probably doesn't effect me too deeply.
Actually, that's true.
About the reality TV shows, I mean.
I totally forgot that things like Mythbusters and Miami Ink would fall into that category, and I watch those at every given opportunity.
Ok, so in other words, the strike is a good thing that I'm happy about. End of sentence.
As for the content, yeah same. There's a couple of titles that I catch every once in a while (The Office and House). Family Guy is on the strike list too, but I'm kind of past watching that fanatically.
Wait, family guy has writers?
I thought it was run by manitees?
